Aft. Overhead built in and in use

During this week I have finished the aft. overhead with the support structure and built it into the cockpit, where it belongs.

All indicators were assigned in SIOC to their variable and merged with the configuration in ProSim as well as all switches / buttons were assigned. Only 4 of them (IRS Keypad 3,6,9 and CLR) have been connected to another Joystick card from Leo Bodnar to the Coolie hat switch. This time I recognized that ProSim can not read those inputs natively as already known on the Prosim support forum. I took therefore a workaround. I have assigned the variables 5330 to 5333 in FSUIPC to the switches and Prosim reads the Offset from FSUIPC as an input for the switch. This is working great.

The next steps are to finish the FO MIP and put it back in the cockpit as well as the shell will be continued.

Aft. Overhead wiring done – All lights on please!

Yesterday I have finished the wiring of the afterwards overhead panel. I have now connected all switches, LEDs and my backlight for the keypad.

A first short test looks very promising. Attached you will find some pictures of the panel.

The indicator text panels are current not glued, this will be done in the next days, so they don’t appear 100% aligned on the photos below.

The next step is to mount it into the Cockpit and program all switches as well as the indicators.

Overhead is back

Today we have continued the shell. We got so far, that we could insert the overhead panel back into the place it belongs. Also all the electronic cards (joystick cards, LED cards, etc.) got rearranged and mounted again.

The next step is to rewire all the cards and boot up the system again, check for failures and start the repairing.

Airpower 2013

Airpower 2013 took place again. Airpower is an airshow hostet by the Austrain military and Red Bull every 2nd year in Austria. The event takes place on the military airport Hinterstoisser in the city of Zeltweg.

The last 3 times we went from Thursday until Sunday, while the airshow itself is on Friday and Saturday.

Pressurization Panel

I have started buying now the components for the Pressurization panel.

The PCB comes from aviationmegastore.com.

The MBED microprocessor from HW-Kitchen in Czech Republic.

All other required parts:

2 Rotary Encoder , 15 pulse, 30 detent
10 Kingsbright SC36-11GWA, 9 mm single digit green, common cathode
1 74LS145
7 Resistor 18 Ohm

Overhead structure finished

Today my wife was fabulous and helped me with the black fabric that will cover the overhead structure.

The fabric was mounted with a velcro so it can be removed when needed to access the controller cards behind.

Next steps will be to build the Gear Leveler and during winter maybe the throttle.
