Yes, you are reading correct. Strobe lights. Not in the Sim, no, this we have, I mean strobe light in real.
Michael made a prototype of the strobe lights. Basically its simple, as a base we took a DIY tool from a Conrad which fully includes all required parts.
The only thing you need to plug in is a 12V power supply. Then you have strobe lights 🙂 Ok, not all done now, because the strobes in the flightdeck are only visable in clouds and in the night near the ground. So Michael made a .lua file which reads some inputs and writes a FSUIPC variable. This variable will trigger through ProSim a gate on the PoKeys card. This is connected to a simple relays and furthermore to the strobe card. This is not working as expected, as PoKeys can not connect direct with relays, you need an additional card to get this working. This card is current in delivery.
I will update a post when the module is built in and finished in programming.
During the last flight I have tried an action-cam (SJ4000) for recording and I was overwhelmed, what a beautiful angle (see below).
So I tried the next days a new improved streaming setup with XSplit. The Actioncam for the main action in the flightdeck. The Webcam for a detailed view on a section or moveable during Taxi/Takeoff and Landing on the glareshield for an improved feeling for the viewers. And the main Instruments like PFD, ND, EICAS and FMC to be included in the stream direct. I have saved 3 configuration where I can choose them with a mouseclick to provide you with different setup.
Lets see how this will work out during active flying. But the first try was very nice 🙂
It will be tested on the next flights and when I am satisfied I will post the links to Videos here. If you Subscribe to my Youtube channel, you can get a notification when I am online streaming a flight.
During the last 3 days we had a very special guest in Vienna. The Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation. Sadly I didn’t had time to visit the airport but I catched her during the initial landing on Runway 11.
And today during the takeoff from runway 29. It was a visual takeoff passing direct over our garden. Those 2 pictures where the best I could get. But sadly no sound on the pictures 😉 Very very nice engine sounds.
As I found in the ProSim Forum, that my old Checklist from 2011 was really used by some guys, I have published my newest version on the download page of my blog.
