Cross the pond – VATSIM online event

Tomorrow, Saturday 30th, the yearly Cross the Pond Eastbound will take place on the VATSIM network.

Our route will be from KBOS (Boston) to LOWW (Vienna). The exact route will be published tomorrow morning.

We will also activate the Cockpit Cam for this event, but as it is the first event running with this cam, expect some delays or malfunctions. If it won’t work, we need to disable it again.

You can track our flight in this map. 2 friends will join me in the cockpit during our flight. The flight time is estimated with around 8 hours.

UPDATE: Cockpit Cam Site is setup and will be active – powered by PushTV from VACC-Austria

Overhead structure finished

Today my wife was fabulous and helped me with the black fabric that will cover the overhead structure.

The fabric was mounted with a velcro so it can be removed when needed to access the controller cards behind.

Thanks again my honey 🙂

Next steps will be to build the Gear Leveler and during winter maybe the throttle.

Gauge improvement

Three days ago I have received the gauges (duct press and vertical speed) from Opencockpits.

As the built in servo motors are quite loud on holding position, I have changed them to another type. Within 3 hours all 3 servos were replaced and ready to be built in. During the weekend I want to implement the gauges in the overhead panel. A video will follow once they are working.

System Overview

Today I have published a first version of the cockpit system overview. The PDF file will show you each of the used PCs with the attached modules to it. The file can be found under “downloads” from the menue.

Also today I have reworked the wiring for the LEDs and preperation for the taxtil fabric for the overhead was done.

On Saturday I was flying 3 legs online with a friend during the VATSIM 24hours Franfurt online night. Great feeling 🙂

During next week, hopefully, my 2 gauges for vertical speed and duct press will arrive from spain 🙂 The wiring for those is already completed.
